When we rounded a corner on a forest service road, we found this juvenile ruffed grouse and a hen. They were being watched by a raccoon.
This raccoon was in a tree about ten feet above a forest service road watching two grouse. After the grouse flew from our arrival and we took a few pictures of the coon, he jumped to the ground, demonstrating he could have done this had the grouse ventured under him.
